Research Area: I study the transition advanced mathematics students make from what most people think of as mathematics to what mathematicians think of as mathematics. Mathematical proofs are the heart and soul of the discipline, and I study how instructors can best guide their students through that transition. This research includes examining how working in cooperative groups may impact students as they learn to read, write, and critically analyze mathematical arguments.
